new personal artwork …

Ok, this is weird :) It is a personal artwork with the title ‘The Jury” … beneath the final I placed the kick-off-sketch.

opinion …

It is more than golden section and color harmony that art is featuring … not only academy skills are defining an artist … I think it is courage and it is the will to tell something relevant as well.

out of the sketchbook …

… it’s a mood-sketch I dropped for the development of a new artwork … sometimes I do dozens of them over a range of months before I paint the final piece at least.

about illustration

… after design and composition it is all about light and textures.

new personal artwork …

This is a personal artwork I made. The title is “Evolution Of An Idea” (orig. “Evolution Einer Idee”). I tried to keep it muddy and creepy while put this against shiny warm light. Beyond that the moony arrogance of the character is very important for the function, I guess …

new picture in my gallery …

This one is a production painting / kick-off-environment I did for a game production last year. I decided to use less details not to freeze the dynamic of the scene and to save the moody character of the atmosphere.

new picture in my gallery …

This is a character design I made a couple of weeks ago. I tried to figure out a new direction of what a mage, wizard or alchemist can look like a step away from Tolkien and the usual high fantasy stuff.

new picture in my gallery …

There is a new picture in my gallery. I painted it during my holiday time. – Well three of my friends already told me: “This is a typical Helge-C.-Balzer” hihi … The title is “The Feather” (original: Die Feder) … please enjoy!

retrospection 2011 …

Preparing for Christmas holiday next week while looking back on a year with many great jobs and projects for which I created over 500 artworks, sketches and graphics. And I am happily looking forward to the new year 2012 with new chances and adventures! Have a good time, merry Christmas and a happy new year!

out of the sketchbook …

I like to focus visual aspects of characters to characterize them better … a good character goes deep, but he has just only a few visual balance points.
